Barricade situation resolved in Upper Marlboro neighborhood

Prince George's County police say a barricade situation at a home in Upper Marlboro has been resolved Wednesday night.

According to police, this all started at around 2:40 p.m. after they received a call for a report of a breaking and entering at a single-family home in the 9800 block of Westphalia Road. Police surrounded the house for hours and warned nearby residents that a possible armed suspect may be in the area. Police asked citizens to stay inside their homes as Westphalia Road was closed between D'Arcy Road and Matapeake Drive.

When officers finally entered the home, police said they found no one inside. A police helicopter was then called in the search.

At 7:49 p.m., police said the barricade situation was over after finding a man outside of a home in the general area of the neighborhood.

Police are calling the man a person of interest and they have only detained him for questioning.
