App lets residents report potential terror threats
ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. - Arlington County police are urging residents to download and use a free app to report potential terrorist threats.
The "See Something, Send Something" mobile app allows users to either send law enforcement a photograph of something they think is suspicious or fill out a report. Police say it is a way for the public to share tips safely and accurately.
"It's just another way to have residents feel comfortable interacting with police. And if they're able to provide us information that can lead to intelligence or keeping the community safe, we are all for this app," said Dustin Sternbeck of the Arlington County Police Department.
In a message to residents, Arlington County police say their officers have received extensive training in active shooter situations and have the necessary tools to respond to them.
In addition to the mobile app, county police have rolled out a tip form on their website.
