Amazon distribution center deal falls through for Westphalia Towne Center in Prince George’s County

A fulfillment center reported to be planned by Amazon will not be coming to the Westphalia Towne Center in Prince George’s County, according to county officials.

Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks released a statement on Friday confirming that the fulfillment center slated for the Westphalia Towne Center was no longer being pursued.

In July, multiple sources told FOX 5’s Evan Lambert that Amazon was the company looking to bring the facility to Prince George’s County.

Alsobrooks says officials are still hoping the company will install a facility in Prince George’s County, but at a different location.

"It is our intention to work with the company to identify more suitable locations in the county where they may be able to bring their products,” she said in the statement.

In July, officials said they anticipated that construction on the site would begin in the fall.
