'All clear' given after Springfield Town Center evacuated for false fire alarm

Fairfax County officials are calling "all clear," and say shoppers are now being allowed back into Springfield Town Center Sunday, after hundreds were evacuated from the mall for a false fire alarm.

Less than 10 days to Christmas, shoppers at Springfield Town Center got quite a shock as alarms rang out at around 1 p.m. Hundreds of people were forced to leave.

Investigators say no fire was found and the alarms were falsely triggered.

Mall security told FOX 5 the shopping center was being evacuated due to the alarms. However, no actual fire was confirmed.

Fairfax County police confirm that the mall has been cleared and is open again for shoppers to come in.
