Alexandria man arrested for impersonating officer in Manassas, police say

A man was arrested for impersonating a law enforcement officer after he pulled over a vehicle in Manassas on Monday, according to police.

Officers said the alleged incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. near Williamson Boulevard and Duneiden Lane.

A motorist reported that the driver of a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria followed them through the intersection, pulled behind them, and activated blue and red flashing lights that were mounted on the vehicle.

The driver then told police that after they pulled over, the driver approached the vehicle, identified himself as an off-duty police officer, and drove off after he was asked to produce identification and the name of his supervisor.

The motorist took down the tag number of the vehicle and called police who were able to identify the alleged impersonator as 21-year-old Alex Barmil.

Barmil turned himself in on Tuesday, according to authorities.
