Alcohol a factor in death of woman found in hole on Ocean City beach

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Police say alcohol was a factor in the accidental suffocation death of woman on an Ocean City beach.

30-year-old Ashley O'Connor, of Plano, Texas, was found in the early morning hours of Monday, July 31 on the beach in the area of 2nd Street.

Detectives say O'Connor walked onto the beach alone around 2 a.m. and sat in a hole approximately 3 to 4 feet deep.

They say the hole collapsed with her inside leading her death.

It is unclear what caused the hole to collapse. No evidence of foul play is suspected.
