Accident leaves driver dead in Aspen Hill; road closures impacted morning commute

An early morning traffic accident left a man dead and caused delays along a major roadway in Montgomery County that impacted the morning commute.

The crash happened in Aspen Hill around 1:49 a.m. Wednesday. Police say two trucks collided on Georgia Avenue between Aspen Road and Hewitt Avenue. Both drivers were hospitalized. Police say 28-year-old Mario Adalberto Montoya Flores later died from his injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Emergency crews closed southbound Georgia Avenue at Aspen Hill Road and northbound Georgia Avenue at Verona Drive through the morning commute.
