7 shot, 3 stabbed in violent end to Fourth of July in the District

Authorities say seven people were shot and three were stabbed in several incidents that began late in the evening on Independence Day in the District.

The violent night began in southeast D.C. at around 10:40 p.m. when an 11-year-old girl was shot in the 1100 block of 46th Place. A short time later, just before 11 p.m., police say a woman was shot in the 4200 block of 4th Street.

Just after midnight, in the northeast, officers responded to the 1100 block of 48th Street where a woman and a juvenile male suffered gunshot wounds.

At around 3:30 a.m. officers responded to the 500 block of Newcomb Street where three people, two men and a woman, were both wounded by gunfire.

Also Wednesday evening, officers responded to the 4500 block of Benning Road for a report of a triple stabbing. Police say three adults were injured around 10:50 p.m.

Police say no one was killed in any of the incidents. Police have not established motives or identified suspects at this time.
