2nd transgender homicide in Fairmount Heights, no arrests made

Prince George's County police are investigating the second homicide involving a transgender victim since March 31 in Fairmount Heights.

They say no arrests have been made in the homicide, which reportedly occurred shortly before midnight in the 600 block of 59th Avenue.

On Friday afternoon, police identified the victim as 23-year-old Zoe Spears of Northeast D.C.

Police were already investigating after a transgender woman was killed in the same suburban community in March.

They found Ashanti Carmon dead in the area of Aspen and Jost streets in Fairmount Heights after responding to reports of gunfire around 6:23 a.m. on March 31.
