20-year-old man shot and killed inside house in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. - A 20-year-old man was fatally shot inside his Silver Spring home Wednesday night.

Montgomery County police said they received a 911 call from inside the house located in the 1600 block of Belvedere Boulevard at around 9:51 p.m. alerting officers to the shooting.

Detectives say several people, including the victim's mother, were inside the home when Jon-Christian Kemachet-Webster was shot in an upstairs bedroom.

At least one gunman and possibly two other people had entered the house, shot Kemachet-Webster and left in what was later described as an older-model black sedan, authorities said.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

There have been no arrests made so far.

"Detectives do not believe that this was a random act and that the victim and the suspect had some kind of known acquaintance or association with each other," said Montgomery County police spokesperson Rick Goodale. "Detectives are still trying to determine how the suspects got in. At this point, they are still trying to determine if somebody let the suspect in or if there was forced entry. It is still to be determined."

The victim's mother told FOX 5, "Pray that the person who did it will be caught very quickly because he knows that I know that I saw him and I saw the vehicle, so if you want somebody else, I am ready for you and that is all I have to say."

For several hours on Thursday, well-wishers arrived at the house to pay their respects. A postal worker spent several minutes with the victim's mother and told reporters she just knew the family from years delivering the mail.

Earlier Wednesday morning when FOX 5 was in the neighborhood reporting on this story, one of our reporters was approached by a large group of men who threatened her and told her that she should leave the neighborhood and this story was not worth her life. This incident was reported to police.

Back in late April, there was another shooting on this same street. Two men were arrested for that incident and charged with second-degree murder. Those suspects remain locked up in jail. It is unclear if what happened in April has any relation to what happened Wednesday night.
