20 cars involved in crash on I-95

Nine people were injured Sunday after a crash involving 20 vehicles on I-95 northbound in Spotsylvania.

The incident began with a two-car crash that slowed traffic at around 11:43 a.m. From that crash, Troopers determined three additional, separate crashes occurred.

The crashes were broken down into one crash with seven vehicles, two separate crashes involving ten vehicles and a final crash involving three vehicles. Nine people were injured in the series of crashes and transported to area hospitals, although the extent of their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident at this time. All lanes of I-95 re-opened by 2:38 p.m. Sunday/
