2 teens charged in brutal attack on 69-year-old dog walker suspected of 2 other similar incidents
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Two teens suspected of brutally beating a 69-year-old woman while she was walking dogs in a Northwest DC neighborhood are suspected for two other similar and vicious incidents within the past month.
Police charged 16-year-old Kaveyon Andrews of Northeast D.C. and 17-year-old Thadduse Hartridge of Southeast D.C. on Saturday for a brutal attack on a 69-year-old dog walker that included thrashing her in the head with a pipe.
They are being charged with assault with intent to rob while armed and armed carjacking and wiill be charged as adults, according to police.
Officials say on Dec. 12, a woman reported that she was walking westbound 1000 block of Irving St NW when she observed two teens standing in the alley entrance of the block as she was walking to the northbound sidewalk.
The victim told police that the two suspects approached her from behind and hit her on the back of the head with a hard object. She says she fell to the ground after being struck, when the two suspects grabbed her purse and fled.
On Jan. 16 -- just days before the incident in Columbia Heights, a woman reported that she was walking near the 3000 block of Sherman Avenue, NW, when two suspects grabbed her, and one covered her mouth with their hands.
The victim told police that the suspects dragged her to the nearby alley when one put a knife to her neck and threatened to kill her if she didn't hand over her belongings.
She said they punched her in the stomach. She said they may have kicked her, causing her to fall to the ground.
The suspects reportedly took the woman's belongings and fled. The victim was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
