(AP) -- Virginia State Police are identifying two people who died in a small plane crash.

Police identified the two in a statement Wednesday as 57-year-old pilot Charles Neal Caldwell of Apopka, Florida, and his passenger, 81-year-old John Joseph Quinn Jr. of Culpeper, Virginia. Police say the aircraft, a Jihlavan KP 5 ASA, crashed in Rhoadesville on Tuesday afternoon. The fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft was classified as experimental.

State police, the medical examiner's officer, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
