2 killed, 8 injured in shootings as DC deploys more police

As of 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, D.C. police have reported eight instances of overnight shootings, of which at least one is a double fatal homicide.

The double fatal homicide took place on the 4900 block of B street Southeast. Police say that members of the Sixth District heard sounds of gunshots in the area and located three male victims who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The first male victim was discovered unconscious and unresponsive. DCFEMS arrived and found no signs consistent with life. The second male victim was transported to an area hospital where lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the decedent was pronounced dead. The third male victim Police say, was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

The second serious shooting took place in the active neighborhood of Adams Morgan on the 2400 block of 18th street Northwest. Sources say that one man was shot in the face. Police have confirmed that the male victim is conscious and breathing.

"All Hands on Deck" was created by Chief Lanier and simply means that all available D.C. police personnel will be placed on patrol all weekend, starting on Friday at 3 p.m. and continuing through 6 a.m. Sunday.

This is the first "All Hands on Deck" weekend this year.
