2 dead after crash on Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Two people have died after a crash that shut down Jefferson Davis Highway near Telegraph Road in Stafford County on Wednesday.

Virginia State Police say a 2002 Nissan Xterra traveling north on Route 1 crossed the center line and collided with a 1993 Jeep Cherokee heading in the opposite direction. The Xterra was struck by a 2018 Ford Super Duty truck afterwards.

The female driver of the Nissan was flown to Fairfax Inova Hospital where she died. The female driver of the Jeep died shortly after being transported from the scene, according to police.

The 55-year-old male driver from Michigan was not hurt in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
