One person was shot and killed after a barricade in the neighborhood of Seat Pleasant, Maryland.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - A barricaded suspect surrendered to police in Prince George’s County Friday afternoon.
The surrender came after an early morning shooting led to a massive emergency response and road closures near the intersection of Greig and G Streets.
What we know:
Police say that at about 9:30 a.m. An officer on patrol who just so happened to be in the area discovered a man who had been shot and killed inside a vehicle.
Seat Pleasant police say the suspect entered a nearby apartment building in the 6400 block of Greig Street. They say they tried to talk to the man. He refused and then came the massive police response.
What we don't know:
Ultimately, authorities say, the suspect surrendered shortly before 2 p.m. and as far as what exactly led to this, who the suspect is and who the victim is, we still don’t know.
"The investigation is very fluid, very ongoing to determine what actually happened," said Brian Fischer with the Prince George’s County Police Department. "So, we really don’t have a lot of information to provide you except to say that the community is safe, that the shelter in place for the area has been lifted."
Authorities also tell us that, at this point, it’s unclear whether the suspect and victim in this case knew each other but they do say they believe this is an isolated incident.
