1 killed in 4-car crash on I-66 in Fairfax County, authorities say

One person has died in a multi-car crash on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Virginia State Police said the crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 162 at Nutley Street.

The crash involved four vehicles, including three pickup trucks and a Toyota sedan, authorities said.

The driver of the Toyota, identified by police as 21-year-old Juan Bernabe Reinaga Zapata of Manassas, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Officials said two other drivers were rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

All lanes were blocked as officers investigated the scene, but the lanes were reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
