Warm and sunny as October arrives to temperatures in the 80s; record heat possible Wednesday

October has arrived but we still need to wait a few more days for that "fall feel" to take hold across the D.C. region.

FOX 5's Sue Palka says morning clouds look to hang tough but as we break up some of that cloud cover in the afternoon temperatures soar into the mid-80s with the help of southerly winds.

We're hoping for a big night from the Washington Nationals with first pitch temperatures at 8:08 p.m. likely in the upper 70s with a touch of humidity.

Highs soar into the mid-90s on Wednesday before cooling down as we head into the weekend.
