Virginia high school football championships postponed due to snow
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - All Virginia state high school football championship games have been postponed due to snow moving into the region on Saturday.
The Virginia High School League made the announcement that all six games that were set to be played on Saturday would be moved to Sunday.
"This decision was reached with the utmost concern for travel safety for all participants, teams, and fans," the Virginia High School League said on its Facebook page.
The following is the new schedule, according to the Virginia High School League:
Class 1: Riverheads vs. Chilhowie will be played at noon on Sunday at Salem Football Stadium
Class 2: Appomattox vs. Robert E. Lee will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Salem Football Stadium
Class 3: Heritage - Lynchburg vs. Hopewell will be played at noon on Sunday at College of William and Mary
Class 4: Louisa vs. Salem will be played at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at College of William and Mary
Class 5: Highland Springs vs. Tuscarora will be played at noon on Sunday at Hampton University
Class 6: Westfield vs. Oscar Smith will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Hampton University
