Tornado watch issued for areas northeast of DC
WASHINGTON - A tornado watch has been issued for areas northeast of Washington, D.C., the National Weather Service says.
The areas under watch include Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties in Maryland until 1 a.m. Sunday.
There is also a severe thunderstorm watch, which has been expanded and includes the D.C. metro area as well as immediate surrounding counties until 11 p.m. Saturday night.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning now northern Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Calvert Counties through Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are expected late through Saturday night.
