Areas to the north and west of the District, including Frederick, Maryland, received the heaviest accumulations of snow. Parts to the south and east of D.C. saw mostly sleet and freezing rain. The District also saw mostly sleet and freezing rain throughout most of the day.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain makes for messy commute in Maryland
FOX 5’s Melanie Alnwick has the latest from the roads in Maryland.
The winter storm is expected to continue through the day and into the afternoon hours. Temperatures will remain below freezing causing untreated surfaces and roadways to become icy and slippery.
Washington, D.C. and most of the surrounding counties are under a Winter Storm Warning which will continue into the morning hours Friday.
