WASHINGTON - Bitter cold and dangerous icy conditions are settling over the Washington, D.C. region as the area digs out from a powerful winter storm that dumped snow and sleet, canceled flights and forced widespread school closures.

WHAT: Very cold wind chills as low as 5 to 8 below zero expected.
WHERE: DC and portions of central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and central, northern, and northwest Virginia.
WHEN: From 7 PM this evening to 11 AM EST Tuesday.
IMPACTS: The cold wind chills as low as 5 to 8 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Additional Cold Weather Headlines are expected at times through the end of the week as the region remains in an Arctic Airmass.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
