Jumbotron falls inside arena at George Washington University

The jumbotron inside George Washington University's Charles E. Smith Center fell onto the basketball court Tuesday.

"The scoreboard was undergoing maintenance today and dropped unexpectedly from its lowered position just above the floor," the university tweeted. "Nobody was injured (thankfully) and the scene is being assessed for any damage."

The 5,000-seat on-campus arena, which opened back in 1975, is home to university's men's and women's basketball teams as well as the swimming and diving, gymnastics, volleyball and water polo teams. The Washington Kastles World TeamTennis team has been playing their matches at the arena since 2014.

The Charles E. Smith Center also recently hosted three of the Washington Mystics' WNBA playoff game over the past month.

The facility had a three-year renovation project completed in 2011.
