Woman riding in pickup truck shot several times during attempted robbery in DC
WASHINGTON - D.C. police are investigating the shooting of a woman during an attempted robbery in Northeast D.C. Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened at around 1:08 p.m. at Oklahoma Avenue and Benning Road outside of the Langston Golf Course.
It all started about two miles down the road in Southeast D.C. as police believe a couple traveling in a black pickup truck was being followed by two suspects in an attempt to rob a motorcycle that was lying on the truck's flatbed.
Shots were fired at the truck as they drove through Southeast D.C. and over the river. A woman riding in the passenger seat was hit and the pickup truck's driver continued on Benning Road until he was able to flag down a police officer.
The victim was shot multiple times, but was conscious and breathing at the scene, according to police. She was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
It is unknown if there were any arrests made or if anyone has been taken into custody at this time.
