Woman drowns in Annapolis after kayak capsizes

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A 40-year-old woman is dead after her kayak capsized in scenic Spa Creek.

Officials don't believe the woman or the man she was with were wearing life jackets when her kayak overturned around 3:30 p.m. Saturday near Horn Point. It took rescuers six hours to find her body.

More than 30 people aboard a Schooner Woodwind tourist cruise saw the woman's male companion in distress. The boat went over to help, but it was too late.

Officials have not identified the woman.
