Water main break causes damage to Bethesda roadway; leaves some without service

Expect big delays Wednesday morning in Bethesda after a main break sent water rushing down a major roadway. The break happened around 1:30 a.m. on a 16 inch main in the 9100 block of Rockville Pike.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said that over 100 customers were without water and that debris from the sidewalk was carried into the street by the rushing water.

Emergency crews are working to repair the break at this time. Road crews will then work to repair the damage to the roadway.

Drivers can expect delays throughout the morning commute.
