Watch: Child sex abuse suspect shot by deputies at Frederick motel

A new video shows the moment officers fired gunshots toward a child sexual assault suspect inside a Super 8 Hotel.

The suspect, identified as Jack Edgar Primmer of Freedom, Pa., was wanted on felony child sexual assault and abuse charges in Pennsylvania.

When did the officer-involved shooting happen? 

What we know:

On August 1, Primmer was tracked to the hotel by deputies and officers from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Frederick City Police Department. Law enforcement confirmed his vehicle and registration at the hotel.

Deputies made verbal contact with Primmer at his hotel room door. He refused to leave, stating he was armed, leading to a barricade situation that escalated overnight.

A man wanted on child sex abuse charges was shot by law enforcement officers at a motel in Frederick, officials say.

Just after midnight, shots were fired by both CPL Alex Mendez of the sheriff’s office and OFC Connor Walsleben of the city police.

Primmer was shot and wounded and was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was treated for his injuries.

Following his recovery, Primmer was extradited to Beaver County, Pennsylvania, to face the child sexual assault and abuse charges.

No law enforcement officers or hotel guests were injured during the standoff. 

What's next:

Both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay while Maryland State Police investigate the shooting.
