Fans celebrate Commanders' first playoff win since '06
For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Washington Commanders are advancing in the playoffs. The team's win last night in Tampa means they're heading now to Detroit for a second-round playoff game Saturday night on FOX 5. Bob Barnard is in Rockville with how long-suffering fans are reacting.
WASHINGTON - The Washington Commanders are celebrating their first playoff victory in 19 years after they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 in an NFC wild-card game Sunday night.
A run by Quarterback Jayden Daniels set up a 37-yard field goal that clanged off the right upright and went through as time expired.
That was the franchise’s first playoff win in 6,945 days. That long-ago win was also over the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay where the team won a 17-10 wild-card game on Jan. 7, 2006.

The 2006 team managed to secure a 17-10 victory over the Buccaneers and moved to the next round to face the Seattle Seahawks. They lost in the Divisional Round to the Seahawks 20-10.
