VIDEO: Rare lightning bolt over Golden Gate Bridge during morning thunderstorms

Lightning, thunder, rain, hail, and wind were part of a wild weather system that hit the Bay Area Thursday morning.

KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulson was on the air, discussing the system, when lightning flashed over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Steve said atmospheric instability will lead to scattered thunderstorms in the Bay Area Thursday morning.

The unsettled air will lead to brief, but strong bouts of rain in the morning, and high winds throughout the day.

Snow will also fall in the sierra on Thursday.

On Wednesday, some Bay Area cities received more than an inch of rain, including St. Helena (1.16 in.), Gilroy (1.14 in.) and Novato (1.01 in).
