Video captures deadly Prince George's County crash involving school bus, tractor trailer
CLINTON, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Dashcam video captured the horrific moment when a tractor trailer collided with a school bus and another vehicle on a Prince George's County roadway in a crash that left a woman dead and several others injured.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday along Branch Avenue and Surratts Road in Clinton, Maryland.
The video shows the view from the southbound lanes of Branch Avenue as the tractor trailer enters the intersection. In the video, it appears that the tractor trailer first strikes a dark colored vehicle then continues forward colliding with the back half of the driver's side of the school bus. The impact of the crash left the truck's trailer overturned on its side, pinning the dark colored vehicle in between and underneath the truck's cab and the school bus.
In the video the traffic lights at the intersection appear to be red at the time the tractor trailer drove through. In an interview with FOX 5, Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski said that the cause of the crash was still being investigated. Stawinski did note that the tractor trailer was heading southbound through the intersection at the time of the collision while all other vehicles involved were traveling across the intersection.
The woman who was killed has not yet been identified.
