Vice mayor defeats incumbent in Alexandria, Va., primary

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Vice Mayor Allison Silberberg has defeated four-term Mayor William D. Euille in the Democratic primary.In unofficial results, with 100 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Silberberg received 5,044 votes to Euille's 4,732.

Former mayor Kerry J. Donley received 3,660 votes.

At a debate last week, Silberberg said Alexandria is spending more than it's bringing in and wanted to increase the commercial tax base.
