Va. hospital nurse charged with sexually assaulting female patient

A nurse at a Virginia hospital has been charged with sexually assaulting a female patient on several occasions.

Prince William County police have arrested 60-year-old Frederick Yeboah on Monday. He has been a registered nurse for 18 years at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge.

He is facing charges of object sexual penetration and sexual battery and is being held without bond.

Police say between August 21 and August 24, Yeboah inappropriately touched a 39-year-old female patient on more than one occasion at the hospital.

As of right now, police believe this was an isolated incident, but they say that could change depending on what they learn in the investigation.

"There may be someone out there who may have more information that we would love to talk to if they have that," said Prince William County Police Officer Nathan Probus. "But at this point, we don't believe that there are any other additional victims at this hospital."

Probus added, "Anytime you are in a situation like that where you are involved with a doctor's office, a medical procedure or anything you feel that something inappropriate has occurred, we would encourage you to call us right away."

Susan Bahorich, communications advisor for Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, said in a statement:

"Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is committed to the safety and care of our patients. We are cooperating fully with authorities. The individual has been placed on administrative leave."

Yeboah is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.
