Teen stabbed in Southeast DC
WASHINGTON - A teenager is recovering after he was stabbed in Southeast D.C. on Friday afternoon.
The victim is expected to be okay, but police are releasing few details about the stabbing.
People who live in this neighborhood near 36th and B streets said it is disturbing to learn about the stabbing.
"It's appalling," said Hyland Dickson. "To raise kids and to see what's going on in our neighborhood is -- what can we do?"
The victim may have survived this attack, but there have been other concerning incidents in this area.
Last month, an 8-year-old girl was hit by a bullet while she was playing outside on Ridge Road -- just a couple of blocks away from the scene of the stabbing.
Dickson said since then, D.C. police have flooded the area.
"There's been a lot of police," he said. "They're being seen, but evidently it's not working."
He said it has been a struggle keeping his young sons, ages 5 and 2, safe.
"I keep them in the house," said Dickson. "From work to school and that's what we do."
