Suspect carjacks vehicle in Md., leads police chase into DC and Va. before crash

A carjacking that began in Maryland and continued into D.C. and Virginia ended in a crash Monday night, authorities said.

Montgomery County police said the carjacking happened in Silver Spring, Maryland, at around 8:50 p.m. Officers chased the suspect into D.C. where a police car was rammed on M Street in Northwest D.C.

The police pursuit continued into Arlington, Virginia, where the suspect crashed into another vehicle on Lee Highway near Highland Street at around 9:42 p.m.

The suspect was taken into custody. Two people were taken to Virginia Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Montgomery County police, D.C. Police and U.S. Park Police were each involved in pursuit of the suspect during the chase, authorities said.

Lee Highway was closed in both directions as a result of the crash.
