Suspect armed with knife wearing Orioles hat steals shampoo, body wash products from Md. store

Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who stole an assortment of hygiene products from a Safeway store in Mount Airy.

Maryland State Police said a male suspect wearing an Orioles hat entered the store in the 300 block of East Ridgeville Boulevard during the afternoon of May 16 and tried to leave with shampoo and body wash products without paying for them. After being confronted by store employees, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the employees. He fled the store with the stolen merchandise before police arrived.

According to police, these types of products are commonly stolen and resold on the street.

On Monday, police released a surveillance photo of the suspect from the store. In addition to wearing an Baltimore Orioles hat, the suspect is also described as a white male in his 30s or early 40s with slight facial hair. Possible tattoos were seen on his right forearm.
