Surveillance video released of suspect, car involved in shooting of 6-year-old girl in SE DC

Police have released surveillance video of a suspect and a vehicle of interest involved in a shooting that wounded a 6-year-old girl in Southeast D.C.

According to police, the shooting happened at around 9:26 p.m. Thursday in the 2700 block of Langston Place. The girl was with her family exiting a car as they were bringing groceries into an apartment building when the gunfire broke out.

A family member said the 6-year-old was shot in the foot. She was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

In the surveillance video, a person is seen getting out of the passenger side of a vehicle apparently firing a weapon before getting back in the car. The vehicle of interest was then seen driving away from the area.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or by texting the tip to the police department's text tip line at 50411.
