Street lights may be keeping you awake at night

A new study finds living in a well-lit neighborhood could be affecting your sleep.

Researchers studied more than 15,000 people over an 8-year period and found that people with excessive light exposure at night, from sources like street lights and security lighting, were more likely to report they slept less and had more fatigue than those with low light exposure.

The research was presented at the annual American Academy of Neurology meeting.

Researchers say people may want to consider sleep masks.
