State of Emergency declared in Virginia ahead of winter weather in southern Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency on Saturday ahead of of winter weather, expected to affect southern Virginia over the weekend and into the early part of next week.
The state of emergency allows state officials to mobilize resources and to deploy people and equipment to assist in response and recovery efforts.
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia National Guard and other agencies are already mobilizing and preparing for the impact of this storm.
