Stafford driver charged after allegedly striking 3 students who were walking to their bus stop

A 37-year-old Stafford man is facing charges after he allegedly struck three young students who were walking to their bus stop on Friday morning.

Investigators say the victims – an 11-year-old, and two 13-year-olds – were walking in a crosswalk when in the area of Highpointe Boulevard and Pinnacle Drive when they were struck by the vehicle.

Stafford County sheriff’s investigators do not believe the victims’ injuries are life threatening.

The driver – Jose Minas – has been charged with reckless driving, obscured windshield, defective equipment, and failure to yield to pedestrians.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies will be conducting extra checks at bus stops during school hours.
