Smoke alarm alerts family to deck fire in Upper Marlboro

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Several people escaped unharmed after a fire at a house in Upper Marlboro.

The fire happened on the 2700 block of Largo Road (Route 202) around 3:30 a.m.

Investigators believe the fire started outside on a deck area. Three adults and a dog were alerted to the emergency by smoke alarms and were able to escape unharmed.

Route 202 at Brock Drive is closed at this time.The cause of the fire is unclear
