Six killed in two-vehicle crash on I-95

Six people died Saturday morning after a two-vehicle crash on I-95 in Caroline County.

The crash happened just after midnight near mile marker 112.4 when a 1998 Dodge van ran off the road, crossed two travel lanes and struck a 2016 Toyota Camry. After impact, the Toyota spun out and the Dodge continued off the road.

The van then overturned five or six times, ejecting six passengers.

The driver of the 1998 Dodge van, Wenceslao Cruz-Marquez, 50 of Chicago, Illinois and nine other passengers were transported to Mary Washington Hospital and Spotsylvania Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

The six passengers that were ejected included four males, one female and one juvenile. All six died at the scene. The van was transporting a total of 16 occupants, and none were wearing seatbelts.
