Shoppers stores shutting down in DMV area
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Shoppers stores throughout the DMV are shutting down, according to reports.
The Washington Business Journal reports that some of the stores have been acquired by Giant, while others are expected to sell to other businesses.
The business journal indicates that Shoppers' parent company, United Natural Foods, is trying to exit the retail business.
Shoppers is the fifth largest grocer in the DMV.
The chain has 36 stores in in the D.C. and Baltimore areas.
