Secret Service: Area of White House Ellipse evacuated after man crosses over restricted area barrier

The area around the Ellipse and the National Tree outside the White House was evacuated for some time on Sunday due to police activity.

Just after 11:30, Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers say they were attempting to speak with a man when he crossed over a barrier and into a restricted area near 17th Street and E Street, NW.

Secret Service says the man was immediately apprehended by officers and placed under arrest for Unlawful Entry.

Video taken by FOX 5 DC photographer Craig Little showed officials with a person in custody, as sirens were going off within a restricted area outside of the White House.

They say he was taken to DC police second district for processing.
