Season of Wishes: 6-year-old Maryland boy takes dream trip to Disney World

Let us introduce you to adorable Roland from Riverdale, Maryland. Roland absolutely loves all things Disney - that includes the Disney Channel, and his favorite characters are Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy! When Roland, who suffers from a kidney disease, found out he would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, he knew exactly what to wish for - a trip to Walt Disney World® Resort!

He and his sister were excited to explore the different amusement parks where he met many of his favorite characters and tried out all of the different roller coasters.

Roland enjoyed visiting the Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom where he transformed into a pirate and took the official pirate oath. His mother shared, "it was a fantastic experience" and Roland had "the time of his life." Granting wishes like Roland's enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

FOX 5 DC Cares is our station's campaign to highlight the work of charitable organizations and non-profits in our community. We hope by partnering with these groups, we can help them get their message out and reach their goals.

We are teaming up with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for their Season of Wishes campaign. Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing the wonderful work Make-A-Wish does in our area and how you can be part of the magic.
