Prince William County police say masked man attempts to sexually assault teen in Woodbridge

A teenager was able to fight off a masked man who attempted to sexually assault in the early morning hours at a park in Woodbridge, Virginia, according to authorities.

Prince William County police said the 18-year-old woman was in a park near South Park Court when a masked man approached her at about 4:25 a.m.

The victim hit the suspect before fleeing, but police said the man chased the teen down and grabbed her from behind.

Authorities said the suspect forced the victim to the ground and removed part of her clothing. The teen was able to fight off the suspect and scream for help, causing the man to run from the scene. Police said the woman escaped the attack without injury.

A K-9 unit and helicopter searched the area but the suspect was not found. Detectives said their investigation into the assault was ongoing.

Officials described the suspect as a man standing about 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds with a thin build and last seen wearing dark colored ski-style mask, gloves, dark pants and a dark hooded jacket.
