A teen was injured in a shooting on the campus of Prince George’s Community College. Police are searching for the suspect.
LARGO, Md. - A teenager was shot and injured on the Prince George’s Community College campus Thursday, prompting brief lockdowns at PGCC and nearby Largo High School.
What we know:
Prince George’s County police say the teen boy walked into a nearby medical center around 11:40 a.m. Thursday with a non‑life‑threatening gunshot wound. He was listed in stable condition.
Around noon, officers responded to Prince George’s Community College for a reported shooting and later confirmed the teen had been shot on campus. PGCC was briefly placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby Largo High School was also placed on lockdown. Officers stayed at the school until dismissal. Police say there is no known threat to the community at this time.
"We deployed officers to both schools and set up perimeters to make sure nobody entered," said Prince George's County Police Chief George Nader. "We had no reason to believe there was an active gun person on either campus, this was an isolated incident."
SkyFox captured the scene as investigators scoured the campus for evidence Thursday afternoon. They brought in K9s and looked inside manholes and behind buildings.
No one is in custody at this time and a weapon has not been recovered, police said. It's unclear if the victim in the shooting was a student at Largo High School or at the community college.

"This campus is one of the finest community colleges anywhere in the world," said Prince George's County Executive Aisha Braveboy. "When something happens like this, it is very concerning to families, to students, to professors."
Students said it was tense as they found out what was going on while in class and saw dozens of police arrive. Some felt the college handled it well.
"I feel insecure right now because I don't know what could happen to me, it made me scared, really scared," a student told FOX 5.
"The safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff remain our highest priority. The College is working closely with law enforcement and will share additional verified information as it becomes available," officials said in a statement.
