President Obama joins Facebook
WASHINGTON - President Obama is taking a new approach to communicating with the American public... Facebook!
Obama launched his personal page on November 9 and was quickly welcomed to the social network by founder Mark Zuckerburg, journalist Katie Couric, Buzzfeed and a number of political figures.
His very first post encouraged users to speak out about climate change and asked his followers to leave comments about their thoughts on the issue.
"If we're all in this together, I'm confident we can solve this and do right by future generations," said Obama's post.
The president said he hopes to use Facebook as a way to "have real conversations about the most important issues facing our country," and as "a place where you can hear directly from me, and share your own thoughts and stories."
