Police search for 2 suspects after cruiser struck, vehicle crash in Southeast DC

Police are searching for two men after an early morning incident in Southeast, D.C. resulted in an overturned vehicle and a damaged patrol vehicle.

Police say the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. when they received a report of two men sleeping inside of a car near Barnaby Terrance and Wheeler Road. One of the men, officers say, reportedly had a gun on his lap while in the vehicle.

An officer arrived and approached the vehicle on foot to investigate. The driver of the vehicle sped off, side-swiping the police officer's patrol car before crashing into a barrier. The collision caused the vehicle to flip over onto its side.

Both of the occupants fled the area. One is believed to have fled into Prince George's County and the other into the Highland Terrace apartment complex.

Officers say no weapons have been recovered and no injuries were reported. The vehicle has a New Jersey license plate and was towed from the scene.

Investigators are looking for two black males between the ages of 19 and 20 years old. One of the men has a medium complexion, a thin build and was wearing a black jacket. The other man wore his hair in an afro-style, has a thin build, and also wore a black jacket in addition to a gray hoodie.
