Police apprehend armed robbery suspects after short pursuit in Hyattsville

Two suspected robbers held up a cell phone store in Hyattsville on Thursday morning and then took off.

Police said two suspects entered the T-Mobile on East West Highway and forced employees to fill a bag with cell phones.

One of the employees triggered a silent alarm, which alerted police. When officers arrived on scene, they said they located the suspects' vehicle, which was a stolen silver Chrysler van.

Officers began pursuing the vehicle as it fled. The suspects then bailed out of the car in the 4300 block of Gallatin Street, which wasn't the smartest move because just across the street is the Hyattsville Police Department. Police pursued them on foot and apprehended both suspects.

Neighbors said that police were searching their backyards hoping to find the gun used in the robbery.
