At the Arizona Humane Society, Panda is recovering from her horrible wound, and she's doing well despite everything that happened to her.
She has also has a lot of energy, despite everything that happened to her. She was jumping around, doing tricks, and is such a sweetheart with such a sad story.
It started last Monday when police got a call about an injured dog in the area of McQueen and Warner. They found the 3-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix with a horrible cut on her throat.
The took her to the humane society, where doctors quickly got to work.
"She was cut from one side of the neck to the other and very deeply," Melissa Thompson said. "When she presented to us, her actual windpipe was exposed her big vessels carrying all the blood from her ear to her head were exposed. We were very worried that she was going to pass away on us."
She is recovering very well. There's one part of her wound that they're watching, but doctors say she will survive. She'll be in a foster home as she recovers.
Panda was microchipped, so investigators were able to contact her previous owner who told them that Panda was given to a Hispanic man. The man is described as being in his late-20s to early-30s and 5'10."
The previous owner told police Panda was given to the Hispanic man at Espee Park between September 8 and 11.
Police have ruled out the possibility that Panda's injuries were caused by another animal, so now they are looking for that man who took her at the park.
"Someone who would do this to a dog, you can't imagine what they would do to someone else," said Sgt. Daniel Mejia, with the Chandler Police Department. "Exactly and that's why we're asking for the public's help. Somebody knows a little more. We just need that help we need that piece of information that helps us find the responsible person."
